INVENTIONS
Students brainstormed and discussed problems that led to inventions. We categorized the types of inventions based on the problems and then listed as many inventions for that category that they could. Afterwards, they worked in groups to decide on the top 10 inventions that made the most impact on society and predicted the order that the inventions were made. Next week they will research and find out if they are correct!

Week 3
Inventions
This week the students started looking at different inventions that helped us get around in the air and water, on land and in space.
They began their research about a particular invention, finding the form and function of the invention, as well as the inventor and the year it was invented. We will create a timeline of inventions next week and discuss how the inventions impacted societies at that time. The students also predicted a few inventions that they think must've drastically changed the world. More to come on that soon!

Week 4: Simple Machines and Inventions Timeline
The students researched important inventions and then made a timeline. We discussed if "old" inventions were more important than "new" inventions and differentiated which centuries and decades experienced the most change because of the inventions created.
Later on, students put together simple machines and made posters relating to their form and function.

Week 6: Newton's First Law of Motion
Students learned about Newton's First Law of Motion by doing experiments!
Weeks 7 and 8
Newton's Laws of Motion and Rube Goldberg Machines! The students found out what Newton's 2nd and 3rd Laws of Motion were by participating in experiments related to motion, speed, acceleration and movement.
