In Term 3, Year 5 participated in a Gamelan Workshop with Pak Susi. Each class learnt the names of instruments and how to play them correctly. Everyone enjoyed learning about Gamelan instruments and patterns and gave a wonderful performance in the Ogoh-Ogoh parade.
What is Gamelan? Gamelan is a Balinese style of music. Year 5 has been learning all sorts of instruments such as gong, kempur, kendang, reyong, ceng -ceng, kempluk and ponggang.
In week one, we were very confused and didn't know what to. We also didn't know how to play Gamelan .
In week two, we were learning a new rhythm to the song, so we sounded a bit better. Also, we we had a no tech challenge so Ms Katie couldn't take any videos.
In week three, we played all the instruments pretty well but we just started learning the second rhythm pattern. That was not going so well.
