Book Club in 5S
Read Aloud
During read loud, we gather around together on the carpet. Students do an activity called "Sketch-to-Stretch", where they are to determine the most important scenes from a chapter and sketch what happened in that scene. They also determine the 3-4 most important words, and do Stop-n-Thinks along the way to make further connections to what I have read.
Sharing this time and showing students to have a love of reading is so important!
The discussions that are generated are some of my most favourite of the day because it shows how the book effected them individually.
